Luis Elizondo, a retired officer at the Department of Defense (DOD), claimed that the U.S. government is in possession of "exotic material" recovered from UFOs. In a recent interview on Fox News' "Tucker Carlson Tonight," Elizondo said he believes there is physical evidence of UFOs and urged the government to be more transparent about it. When asked whether UFOs left any debris, he responded in the affirmative without elaborating. "The United States government is in possession of exotic material and I'll leave it at that," Elizondo, who headed the DOD's Advanced Aerospace Thread Identification Program (AATIP) from 2007 until its dissolution in 2012, told host Tucker Carlson. He added that more analysis needs to be done since "there is enough uniqueness" in the recovered elements. "I'm not going to say what those elements are because I'm worried about the same type of reprisal that I'm facing," Elizondo said. "But there are pockets of people that are willing to do the right thing." The ex-DOD official led the investigation of unidentified aerial phenomena (UAP) – the government's preferred term for UFOs – as part of the AATIP. After the program ended, he continued to investigate UAPs for the Pentagon but resigned in 2017, he revealed in a separate interview with CBS News.

UFOs are a thousand years ahead of US technology

In an interview with Chris Cuomo this week, retired Navy pilot Sean Cahil claimed that the Tic Tac-shaped UFO spotted in 2004 was several years ahead of U.S. technology. Navy pilots recorded the fast-moving object on video, which was among the UFO videos leaked in 2017. "The technology that we witnessed with the Tic Tac was something we would not have been able to defend our forces against at the time," said Cahil, who was Chief Master-at-Arms at one of the Navy ships involved in the incident. "What we saw in the Tic Tac … indicates a technology that outstrips our arsenal by at least 100 to 1,000 years at the moment." Navy pilots witnessed the aircraft flying off the coast of southern California in November 2004. The vehicle lacked control surfaces and any visible means of propulsion despite traveling at hypersonic speeds, according to Cahil. The way it moved led to speculation that the vehicle was a UFO, becoming a key piece of evidence for those who believe extraterrestrial intelligence exists. Last week, investigative filmmaker Jeremy Corbell leaked a UFO video that showed a spherical object disappearing into the sea off the coast of San Diego, California. The footage was recorded in the USS Omaha's Combat Information Center in July 2019. Officers speaking in the video could be heard saying, "It splashed." Corbell told Daily Star that there were serious discussions among officials that the craft on the video might have come from an underwater base. (Related: FAA mystified by blue UFO that disappeared into the sea in Hawaii.) Christopher Mellon, deputy assistant secretary of Defense for Intelligence under former Presidents Bill Clinton and George W. Bush, raised the possibility that some sightings involved alien technology. Speaking alongside Cahil in the same interview, he said that the idea of UFOs being extraterrestrial shouldn't be ruled out, noting that "somebody might have found us before we found them."

Mellon urged the government to pay more attention to UFOs because unidentified vehicles had repeatedly intruded into restricted American airspace over the last several years. "They're very capable, in some cases more capable of anything in our own inventory. This has been going on for years. The truth is just emerging," he said.

These interviews came as the Pentagon and other intel agencies are due to present Congress a report on UFOs next month. The report would detail sightings that are "difficult to explain," according to former Director of National Intelligence John Ratcliffe.
