Israeli President Isaac Herzog has confirmed that the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) found a digital manual explaining how to create chemical weapons on the body of a slain Hamas operative. According to Axios, IDF members found a thumb drive on the Hamas operative with instructions for producing a "cyanide dispersion device." The IDF investigated the manual on the thumb drive which, according to the Israeli president, was part of an al-Qaeda manual. Axios also noted that the dead Hamas operative who carried the manual participated in the Oct. 7 attack on a music festival in Israel. Herzog further expounded on the manual during an interview with Sky News. He showed printouts of the digital files, including a drawing of a makeshift cyanide dispersion device – the manual's expected output. "This is how shocking the situation is where we're looking at the instructions that are given on how to operate and how to create a kind of non-professional chemical weapon with cyanide," Herzog said. Sky News sent copies of the cyanide dispersion device manual to Hamish de Bretton Gordon, a British expert on chemical weapons. Following his scrutiny, he assessed that the manual shows ingredients that could build a credible chemical weapon. "Al-Qaeda spent a lot of time and effort developing a chemical weapon based on cyanide," said Gordon, the former head of the British Armed Forces' Joint Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear Regiment. "Cyanide is a blood agent, and [al-Qaeda] developed a chemical weapon using these types of chemicals. Deborah Haynes, security and defense editor for Sky News, brought up Herzog's comments to IDF Maj. Gen. Michael Edelstein during a news briefing. "On the capabilities that you ask about, the chemicals – we are still looking for evidence about whether they had it or not," he answered. "But the orders were there, as our president mentioned yesterday – orders were there on how to kill, how many to kill, how many to take as hostages."

IDF released Hamas abduction manual

Prior to the release of the chemical weapons manual discovered by the IDF, Israeli officials confirmed the existence of an abduction manual carried by Hamas members during the Oct. 7 attack. The "top secret" manual, released on Oct. 23, contained detailed instructions on how to take civilian hostages. It also had instructions on how to bind hostages by their wrists and ankles, collect their identification papers, and live-stream kidnappings. (Related: Western world leaders condemn acts of TERRORISM committed by Hamas, support Israel's right to DEFEND ITSELF.) The manual recommended that terrorists "kill anyone that may … cause distraction or disturbance," alongside any civilian who is "problematic" and "poses a threat." It also recommended the use of sedatives to keep hostages subdued. Under the manual's fourth section, titled "Supplies," Hamas terrorists were advised to "collect as much food and drinks as possible" and avoid using their own supplies to feed hostages "except in emergency situations." According to Aol, the manual "suggests they were planning to keep hostages in an enclosed location for a long period of time." "It is unclear whether the 'abduction manual' documents were related to an attack on a specific village or broad guidance for Hamas attackers," the outlet continued. The fifth section of the manual, titled "Camouflage and Hiding," instructed operatives to conceal their mission. "Do not declare the number of kidnappers and their weapons; do not state the number of wounded and dead [of the enemy]," it said. "Do not declare your connection with the outside world." The eighth and final section, titled "Negotiations," anticipated communication with Israeli forces. "Do not engage in negotiations in the field if possible," the manual instructed. "Only the most senior in the field will communicate with the enemy and they must remain in contact with their commanders throughout the incident. If communication is interrupted, try to discuss and convey what we came for." Visit Terrorism.news for more stories about Hamas in the wake of its Oct. 7 terrorist attack on Israel.
