Louisiana Rep. Steve Scalise endorses Trump for president
House Majority Leader Steve Scalise (R-LA)
has formally endorsed former President Donald Trump for the 2024 elections.
According to the
National Pulse, Scalise is the latest top-ranking Republican in the lower chamber of Congress to offer his public support to Trump. His endorsement followed those of his GOP colleagues, New York Rep. Elise Stefanik and House Speaker Mike Johnson – the latter Scalise's fellow Louisianian. Meanwhile, Trump is widely anticipated to be the GOP's nominee for the November elections with his huge leads over his rivals.
"I am proud to endorse Trump for president in 2024," Scalise wrote on X. "I look forward to working with Trump, and a GOP House and Senate, to fight for those families who are struggling under the weight of Biden's failed policies."
The House majority leader from the Pelican State criticized the Biden administration's approach to current issues in an interview with
Fox News, highlighting how the White House handled the border crisis, the economy and energy policy.
Scalise emphasized the sharp rise in gas prices; difficulties in securing affordable homes; doubled mortgage rates; and record high inflation and interest rates during his interview. He attributed all of these negative developments to the Biden administration's mismanagement of the U.S. economy. The Louisiana congressman also contrasted Trump's leadership with that of incumbent President Joe Biden, asserting that the real estate mogul-turned-president's term was marked with better outcomes for American workers and families.
According to the
Pulse, Scalise's endorsement "brings the tally of public support for Trump from sitting GOP House members to at least 95. This crucial endorsement comes during the lead-up to the Iowa caucuses on Jan. 15 and the New Hampshire primary the following week."
Rhode Island BLM leader throws support behind Trump
Trump's supporters aren't limited to the GOP alone; even leftists who formerly hated him are now waking up to the truth. In one instance, a Black Lives Matter (BLM) leader in Rhode Island expressed his support to the former president. (Related:

BLM Rhode Island co-founder Mark Fisher appeared on "Fox and Friends" in early December 2023, explaining
why he now supports Trump. He also had strong words for the Democratic Party, which has been in power for so long thanks to the Black vote. According to Fisher, Democrats "don't value" African-Americans, and their policies "actually strike at the heart of the Black family."
"We've been used and abused for so long by [the Democratic Party]. They don't value our vote [and] their policies are basically racist policies; I believe it's a racist party," he said. "Trump is just the opposite. He's going to tell you how it is; he's going to give it to you straight."
The BLM Rhode Island founder ultimately remarked: "Trump has done more for the Black community than any president I can think of in my lifetime. How could you not like a real man? How could you not relate to someone like that?"
Despite this, Fisher lamented that a lot of African-Americans who remain registered Democrats or regularly vote for them are "misinformed" about the former president and his policies. "They don't really understand, because they don't educate themselves on Trump as a person and his history."
