POLL: Trump favored to win as voters doubt Biden's ability to complete another term
A recent J.L. Partners
poll revealed that
American voters favor former President Donald Trump over incumbent President Joe Biden.
The poll, exclusively conducted for the
Daily Mail, delved into the opinions of American voters about the longevity of presidential candidates and their capability to fulfill their terms.
According to the survey, only 38 percent of American voters believe that the 81-year-old Biden would survive a second term, while Trump, who is only four years younger than Biden, enjoys 54 percent favorability from respondents. Trump's resilience and vitality after leaving office have contributed to a more positive outlook among voters regarding his potential reelection.
The survey also revealed that 33 percent of respondents doubt Biden will complete another term due to his old age and deteriorating cognitive abilities, while 21 percent think Trump, who currently faces multiple indictments, will not complete another term.
"
Voters think Biden is too old, and they are not changing their mind," said James Johnson, co-founder of J.L. Partners. "That solid perception that he is too old feeds through to a sense he is too weak, and it is a major problem for him going into November. Frankly, they do not think he is up to the job – and that makes his reelection a much harder task."
Polls consistently show voters believe Biden is too old for a second-term
Previous polls conducted by the
Wall Street Journal (WSJ) and the
Daily Mail in 2023 backed the claims of Johnson about how voters view Biden and Trump for their reelection bids.
In the
WSJ poll, conducted between Aug. 24 and Aug. 30 among 1,500 respondents,
73 percent of participants believe Biden is too old to run for reelection, while only 47 percent say the same about Trump. The results also show that only 36 percent believe Biden is mentally fit for the presidency, compared to 46 percent for Trump.
The approval ratings for Biden's job performance are also low, with only 42 percent approving and 57 percent disapproving. Disapproval is particularly high for his handling of the economy (59 percent), inflation (63 percent), border security (63 percent), China relations (57 percent) and the Russia-Ukraine conflict (52 percent). A Daily
Mail survey conducted in collaboration with
J.L. Partners among 1,000 Americans showed similar results, with
71 percent of respondents believing Biden is too old for another term. This sentiment was consistent across all age groups, with a majority agreeing that Biden is overage. Along party lines, 94 percent of Republicans and 71 percent of independents share this opinion.
Moreover, the survey revealed dissatisfaction with Biden's performance, with 52 percent feeling worse off since he took office, particularly among Republicans and independents.
