Biden silent on Big Tech's abuses because he "benefits from the censorship," says deplatformed journalist

Investigative journalist and conservative activist Paul E. Sperry told The Epoch Times that Biden is not planning to act on the widespread banning and de-platforming of conservatives from the platforms of big tech corporations like Facebook, Twitter and Google because he "benefits from the censorship." Sperry argues that the reason he is in the White House in the first place is because of strategic censorship conducted by big tech. He cites Twitter as his example. When the New York Post uncovered information that members of Biden's family, including his brother and his son, Hunter, had shady foreign dealings and had attempted to peddle influence in Ukraine and China, Twitter blocked the article. This significantly reduced the reach of the bombshell report and prevented it from being seen by millions of people. During his campaign, Biden denied the allegations that he broke the law and said that his family was not conducting any improper business dealings. "Twitter has a monopoly that makes it hard for smaller alternative platforms to compete," remarked Sperry in an email. "Unless deep-pocketed conservatives open up their wallets and invest in competitors, Twitter will dominate political social media and remain the liberal bullies on the block. He added that because of Biden's support for big tech, it is unlikely that the current administration will repeal or amend Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act, which prevents social media platforms and other websites from being sued for censoring users they do not want on their platforms.

Paul Sperry suspended from Twitter, "They can silence anybody"

Sperry himself has been targeted by big tech. In February last year, Twitter permanently banned Sperry from its website. At the time of his suspension, his account had tens of thousands of followers. He claimed that this happened without warning and without him having broken any of the site's terms and policies. In a statement made to alternative media outlet The Gateway Pundit, Sperry made a statement:
"There were no warnings. No rules were broken. They just don't like my content because of their politics. They're trying to claim I'm a "robot" when of course they know better. Tyrants. This is the second time I've been harassed since Trump was banned [from Twitter]. They are trying to push me off their platform and silence my voice through harassment. If they can harass and silence a professional journalist, they can silence anybody."
Sperry's deplatforming from Twitter came as many other high-profile conservative individuals and organizations were permanently banned from the website as well. These include President Donald Trump, former National Security Advisor and retired Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn, Trump campaign lawyers Lin Wood and Sidney Powell and prominent Trump supporter and MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell. Twitter has even censored The Gateway Pundit and conservative watchdog group Project Veritas as well as their founders, Jim Hoft and James O'Keefe, respectively. Twitter alleged that the San Francisco-based investigative organization violated the site's rules on sharing private information. "The tweet in question arose when asking for comment from Facebook's VP of Integrity about censorship," said Project Veritas on its Telegram channel. "Project Veritas is appealing this decision, as no privacy was violated." Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey argued that Trump incited violence, and these organizations and individuals are partially responsible because of their support for the former president. Dorsey's actions have been condemned by civil liberties groups like the Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF) and the American Civil Liberties Union, who argued that Twitter, along with other big tech corporations like Facebook and Google, is overstepping their authority. They have warned left-wing activists that if they do nothing they could be targeted next. (Related: Leftist pages and accounts start getting censored and deplatformed by Twitter and Facebook.) "A platform should not apply one set of rules to most of its users, and then apply a more permissive set of rules to politicians and world leaders who are already immensely powerful," said the EFF in a statement published after Trump's suspension. "Instead, they should be precisely as judicious about removing the content of ordinary users as they have been to date regarding heads of state."
